Killinghall Methodist Church
There has been a Methodist Chapel on this site for two hundred and fifteen years.
We have thirty six members.
Our Church is now in the old Sunday School building, pleasant and up to date with
new facilities for the disabled,
including ramps and baby changing facilities. Rooms
are hired out whenever possible.
Our monthly coffee mornings, and Summer and Christmas
Fayres, are popular in the village attracting people who do not otherwise attend
Chapel. Sunday School is on Sunday mornings whilst the Church service Is in progress
and we have family services once a month. We have a fluctuating number of children,
ages two to eleven.
A bowling party at the American air base is much enjoyed by all, as is the Church
picnic after the Sunday School Anniversary,
The Sunday School arrange beetle drives
to raise money for themselves and for charity. These too are popular in the village.
Wesley
Guild is thriving and runs from October to Easter.
We support a child in Lebanon,
and also give to Methodist and other charities, also to emergency appeals
Members visit the nursing home in the village, taking a monthly service, and we join
in other circuit services and social events.
We join with Hampsthwaite Chapel for
Bible Study evenings, and Sunday evening services, alternating the venue.
We combine with the local Parish Church for the Remembrance Day service and for Women’s World day of Prayer.
With the Parish Church we give "welcome bags" to newcomers to the village.
They include
details of church services and clubs at both churches, and also details of facilities
such as the doctor and other organisations in the village, not forgetting the fish
shop and the milkman.
Together with God's help we will keep the Christian faith alive in the village for future generations.
